This review is from: Howard Leight QM24+ Multiple Positioning Headband Earmuff (Tools & Home Improvement)
The "QM24 Earmuffs" are a very good value for quality hearing protection. We use these when working in a high noise area and at the shooting range. Here are my observations:
* Fairly Comfortable; the headband places the ear protectors at just the right angle and the ear cushions are good enough for several hours of continues use, but the top of the headband is not padded and does apply pressure on the scalp
* Good Sound Attenuation; these work very well for reducing the damaging levels of noise from running our shop compressors and the sharp levels produced at the range

I got these for the cheap price. Made in Mexico. The problem is that the "fit" is so tight that they hurt. The "adjustable crown strap" is just a cheap piece of 'tape like', badly cut rubbish that is worthless.

I've had a pair of these for over 10 years and they work great for shooting as well as operating power tools and other noisy devices. They work just as well as the much more expensive muffs, and they are relatively lightweight and very inexpensive. The weak point in the design is the headband... pressure cannot be adjusted... so they are a bit tight at first, but quickly break in and get more comfortable. If you are an occasional shooter, who shoots for 1/2 hour or so, these are fine. If you want something with adjustable tension get the $20 muffs with the steel double-wire headband... you can bend that to whatever shape and pressure level you prefer, and it will stay that way forever. I like these cheap ones fine, and just bought a second pair for my boyfriend, who's a new shooter.
